On top of the general assessments, additional assessments may be performed in selected groups of Lifelines participants (e.g. “subcohorts”) in order to collect additional questionnaire data, measurements and/or biomaterials.
Additional assessments are performed at the initiative of (and in collaboration with) external research groups, and an embargo period for use of additional data by third parties may apply.

The following additional measurements/sample collections have been performed:

• DAG1, a.k.a. DEEP, analysis of microbiome and methylome in samples of ca. ~1.500 participants
• DAG2, the assessment of whole genome + fecal microbiome in samples of ca. 165 participants
• DAG3, the assessment of the microbiome in samples of ca. ~9.000 participants
• DAG4, the follow-up to DAG3
• EYEL, the assessment of glaucoma in elderly participants (EyeLife)
• GWAS, the genotyping of ~15.000 participants
• UGLI, the genotyping of ~38.500 (UGLI-1) plus ~28,000 (UGLI-2) participants
• HAIR, the collection & analysis of scalp hair samples
• IMAL, the assessment of CT scans of the lungs & hearts of ~12.000 participants (ImaLife)
• MYST, the use of quantified-self devices in ~100 participants
• NEXT, the assessment of ~1500 pregnant Lifelines participants (currently an independent project)
