EyeLife (EYEL)

EyeLife is one of Lifelines' additional assessments.
This assessment is a collaboration between Lifelines and the UMCG Department of Opthalmology.
The goal of the assessment is to quantify ocular health in the general ageing population, in particular the prevalence of glaucoma, using an extensive eye exam.

Protocol

EyeLife started in Q3 of 2019 and will continue to examine elderly participants when they turn 65 years old.
The participants are invited to visit the UMCG Policlinic of Ophthalmology for an eye exam. During the eye exam, the following parameters are tested:

Subcohort

Inclusion criteria were:

  • 65+ years old

Exclusion criteria were:

  • Being vasectomized
  • Working nightshifts
  • Survivor of childhood cancer
