====== Ostheoarthritis (WOMAC) ======

The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index ([[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WOMAC|WOMAC]]) is a widely used, proprietary set of standardized questionnaires used by health professionals to evaluate the condition of patients (in this case: [[start|Lifelines]] participants) with osteoarthritis of the ankles, knees and hips, including pain, stiffness, and physical functioning of the joints ([[sections|section]]: [[diseases & symptoms]]).\\ 
It can be self-administered and was developed at Western Ontario and McMaster Universities in 1982.

===== Scoring =====

The WOMAC measures the following dimensions of osteoarthritis of hips, knees, and ankles:
  * pain (5 items, score range 0–20)
  * stiffness (2 items, score range 0–8)
  * functional limitation (17 items, (score range 0–68).
