====== Quality Control ====== Lifelines adheres to strict protocols to ensure the high quality of the Lifelines materials. Thanks to the audit trails of our laboratory information management system and the temperature logs we are able to provide detailed information for each individual sample such as: * additives present in the blood collection tubes * the time elapsed between sample collection, centrifuging, processing, and finally storage * the temperature during each of the above steps * sample storage parameters * the number of freeze-thaw cycles a sample has gone through * sample abnormalities such as hemolysis, lipemia ===== LogTag ===== The LogTag TRIX-8 Temperature Recorder incorporates an external temperature sensor arranged in a recess in the case. This design protects the sensor from damage but still provides a fast reaction time more associated with remote temperature sensors. {{:20190116_094824.jpg?200|}} Using the LogTag Interface and LogTagĀ® Analyzer software, the LogTag is set-up for recording conditions including delayed start, sampling interval, number of readings, continuous or fixed number of readings and configuration of conditions to activate the ALERT indicator. {{:1800131929.png?600|}} ===== SPREC ===== In order to provide comprehensive details regarding pre-analytical variations, each sample is assigned a Sample PREanalytical Code (SPREC)(([[https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20332280/|Standard preanalytical coding for biospecimens: defining the sample PREanalytical code]])). SPREC is a seven element long code which provide the following details: * Type of sample * Type of primary container * Pre-centrifugation (the delay between collection and processing) * Centrifugation * Second centrifugation * Post-centrifugation delay * Long-term storage ===== iVention & iLES ===== iVention's Laboratory Execution System (iLES) has been implemented by Lifelines as of 2019. It is a 100% web-based platform that features full tracking & tracing of individual samples and keeps a record of all the data pertaining to the biosamples.
